I am on a roll with Boo and Lu patterns. I have sewed up four Boo and Lu dresses already (I just finished one, which didn’t make it to the blog yet). There is a new Boo and Lu pattern* and I was one of the lucky testers: the Venus top, dress and maxi.

The moment I saw the Venus dress for the first time I was convinced that I liked the dress the most in one fabric. Then when cutting out the first dress I didn’t have enough fabric to cut it out in one fabric (well the fabric that I picked out for the dress was not enough for both the top and bottom part). So I used two different fabrics, which had the same colours (the purple dress). Our eldest liked it so much that for the second dress she wanted to have two different fabrics for the dress. She picked out the bottom fabric and I looked for a fabric that would fit with the first fabric.

Our eldest loves the rushed front and I really like the fitted shaped of the dress. It looks so nice on our eldest. The gathered front is created with elastic, which I like. No fumbling to make even gathers.

The purple dress was the first dress that I sewed. When she saw there was the option of a maxi dress she wanted that. I told her that a maxi dress is very unpractical when we have to cycle to school every day. So in the end she was happy with her dress. She cannot wait to wear the dress when it gets a bit warmer. Of course she already wore it to school with a vest on top. Our eldest is hardly ever cold.
