Navarro top and dress

When I was looking for stretch velvet fabric for my last project I came across a few new online shops. In one I saw this Kapitone jersey/knit. I knew our girls would love the print and I was intrigued what kind of fabric it would be so I ordered one meter. Up next was a pattern test for the Kid’s Navarro dress, top and skirt from Stitch upon a time* and the fabric was perfect for it. The Kapitone fabric only has 50% stretch and because of the flowers that seem to be stamped on to the fabric it doesn’t flow as much. The fabric is just perfect for the Navarro pattern.

The Navarro is a very versatile pattern with many options. I love those patterns. I sewed two different version and used the same pattern pieces, isn’t that even better? The flower dress is a knee length dress with hood and pocket. With the top part you can also sew a cropped sweater like I did.
Other options are a top length sweater, a mini dress, knee length dress and maxi dress length. You can combine the top and skirt to create a dress, but you can also sew them up separately and create a separate skirt and top.

Our girl got very excited when she saw the hood. Although she usually doesn’t like dresses with hoods, because she cannot put them on her head during school time, she loves this one. I also like the shape and cross over at the neck.

The second thing our daughter loves is the pocket and especially because she can put her arms all the way through till the other side. It is easy that the pocket is added between the top and skirt pattern pieces.
The Kapitone jersey is a type of padded jersey, so it is nice and warm.

For the second version our girl wanted a plain sweater, indeed not the colourful preference she normally has. This cropped banded sweater is perfect over dresses. I did add a little bit more colour with the fabric that I chose for the bands.

25% of the proceeds from this pattern will be donated to TAPS, or Tragedy Assistance program for Survivors (https://www.taps.org).
This pattern will be on sale from now until Tuesday November 17 at Midnight (EST). The adult pattern is on sale for $8.50 and the baby and kids pattern is $7.50.
