This month I was inspired to create an outfit in velvet. I must admit, velvet isn’t really something that I often use. Last year when I created this sweater in stretch velvet it started to grow on me and I knew our girl would love a velvet outfit. It took some time to find the colours that I wanted, also because a lot of stores call it differently. Some call it stretch velours or velvet, others lycra velours, so I really had to look at what the fabric was made of. I created a velvet Sofiona outfit with the Spruce Skort/Skirt and Aurora Raglan.

The spruce skort/skirt is a skirt that can be made in woven or knit fabrics. The knit fabric skirt has two different lengths, athletic length (perfect for sports with the attached shorts underneath) or the knee length that I made. I of course love the colour blocking element. It spices up the skirt with a nice accent.

The aurora is a raglan pattern that has three different lengths. I used the top length, but also a tunic and dress length are included in the pattern. I sized up in width because our daughter would wear a t-shirt underneath with the colder weather at the moment. After seeing the fit of the stretch velvet I am not sure it was necessary. Still I like how it fits her. I am not a fan of bows and such, but I knew our daughter would love it. When I showed her the top she asked, what are those (pointing at the bows)?! I said I thought you would like the bows, I do she said. She is not used to me adding these type of things to her clothing I guess…

Did you see the 2-year sale of Sofiona Designs? It means 40% off of most patterns with the code SOFIis2. Have a look at all my Sofiona Design makes here if you cannot decide which one to get. The sale lasts until December 9.
