How about sewing your own (no show) socks?

I love to sew new things I have never sewed before! So when I saw the tester call for socks, even better, no show socks, I jumped on the opportunity to apply to test these socks by The Wolf and the Tree.

I have never sewed socks before so I was really curious how they would hold up. There are several options in the pattern, no show anklets, regular rise no show socks and no show low rise socks. I sewed the regular rise no socks. The pattern consists of only 4 pattern pieces and you can easily blend between sizes. Apparently I have wide feet for the length that I have. The socks sew up so quickly and the fit is spot on. I used the socks in my sneakers and indeed they did not show and stay put!Foto+3.jpg

Another challenge that came up with this pattern is photographing your own socks. Have you ever photographed socks? I have not and it was quite a challenge I must admit. Luckily there were a few tester that made pictures before me so I had some inspiration. First I had to think of some positions that would show off the socks, what to do whith those feet?! After that how to get the pictures right to show off the socks. I took several hundreds of photos before I was happy with the result. What do you think?

I used regular knit for the socks. They are great for using up all those scraps. I love used up my scraps. This fabric was a leftover from this dress. If you are looking for more ideas on what to do with your scraps, have a look here.
