Sunshine swirl skirt

Candy Castle Patterns are always a bit hit in our house and so is the new released the Sunshine Swirl skirt from Candy Castle Patterns*. I especially love these woven patterns from Candy Castle Patterns, just like the Peppermint swirl skirt, because you can really go all the way depending on the fabrics you choose.

This time I let our eldest choose her fabrics. I of course try to guide (read steer) her a bit. I thought the skirt would be perfect for using two fabrics with opposite colors and dots. So our girl picked out the purple and green dots in opposite colour schemes. At the last minute I though it would be fun to use the stripes fabric in the same colors for the waist band so I ordered 0.5 meter of fabric of the striped fabric. When it arrived I decided to use all three fabrics. Luckily I could get her size out of the 0.5 meters of striped fabric. I made the at the knee length. There is also the option of above the knee and ankle length.

You need 48 pieces for the skirt so you can go all out with the amount of fabrics you choose. You can choose how many different fabrics you want to use and alternate or make a rainbow skirt with different fabrics. I really like the waist band of these woven skirts with the clean front and gathered back with elastic.
The Sunshine swirl skirt is a bit of a meditative skirt as you need to sew 48 skirt pieces together and topstitch each of those seams. It is worth it though, just put some music on and think about something else.
