Our girl is a die hard ruffle lover, so when I saw the tester call for the Rimini romper I knew right away our eldest would love it. And indeed, our girl feels that the best part of this pattern are the ruffles (which you can also omit if you like). The Rimini romper from Design by Call Ajaire* has lots of options, like all her patterns. I took the safe bet and chose to sew the dress option of the romper first (which I am showing you later on in this blogpost). After that I let our girl choose the option and after this jumpsuit she is a big jumpsuit fan, so she opted for the romper version.

The romper has culottes bottoms, which I think are great. It gives a nice flowy feeling of a dress, with the convenience of pants. And the best part about the Rimini romper is that there is no closure so our girl can get in and out of it all by herself.

For the finishing of the ruffle I used my favorite my overlocker thread, which are perfect for a rolled hem. This time I put the differential higher so that the side does not curl up as much.

The dress option of the Rimini romper is a faux wrap dress and is great for pieces of fabric of 50 cm (for sizes up to size 9 at least). Although I don’t like to sew a lining to the bottom of a dress, I do think it gives it a nice and clean finish, which stays flat nicely. This dress option also has a nice lining sewed to the hem line of the dress.

For the romper version I used the ruffle of her chest size, size 6. For the dress I used the ruffle of her length size, size 9. You see a slight difference in size of the ruffle.
