Winter Bounce dress

Not too long ago the Bounce sweater from The Sewn Edge was released and I sewed one sweater for our middle girl. Just before Christmas a free winter applique (free for members of the Facebook group) was released and I fell right in love with the applique. So I added it to my to sew list.

After sewing two typical Christmas dresses for the eldest two (a Christmas Regina dress and a folded x-mas tree dress) it was time to sew a not so typical Christmas dress for the youngest. I used the bounce sweater as a base and just lengthened the dress with 20 cm. I have used this hack before and love the results.

For the polar bear (the appliqué includes four different designs: a polar bear, a snowman, a plum pudding, a wreath) I used leftovers from this coat. For the eyes and nose I used black fleece fabric. The blue alpenfleece with figures was a leftover after sewing this Foras dress and this Lillith dress (the Christmas dress of 3 years ago).
Our girl is still too small to fit the Bounce sweater. The sizing of the Bounce sweater starts at 53,5 cm for the chest and our girl’s size is still 49,5 cm. Therefore I removed around 1,5 cm at each side, so a total of 6 cm all around. The fit of the bounce sweater is quite wide so I did not mind slimming it a bit.
I liked to add a touch of yellow in the dress therefore I added it to the cowl. I added a bit of extra fabric to make the cowl a bit wider, to change things up a bit. The yellow wellness fleece was a leftover from this coat.

Fabric: the uni alpenfleece petrol comes from Nooteboom Textiles, the light blue alpenfleece comes from de Stoffenstraat, the yellow wellness fleece from de Stoffenstraat.
Pattern: winter applique and the Bounce sweater from The Sewn Edge
