3-in-1 convertible bag

The new Galaxie pattern from Jalie is released: Galaxie 5, 3-in-1 convertible backpack. I can assure you it is a great new pattern. Galaxie patterns are bag or accessoires patterns, great for gifts. I have sewed a Galaxie pattern before, the travel bag pattern.

I love my bags to be with many different pockets and to be as versatile as possible. This bag is it. You can use it as a tote, a backpack or as a crossbody. It has 2 pockets for water bottles, tissues or the like. One zippered pocket on the front and one big pocket which has 2 zippered pockets, 2 small pockets and a key chain inside.

This was my first real experience sewing a bag. I was just never interested in sewing a bag because I never saw a bag that interested me enough to sew one. This 3-in-1 convertible bag got me intrigued from the start and even interested me in sewing one (I don’t really like sewing bags with all the supplies etc). I already got several requests to make more. Well it was quite a long process to sew this bag (94 steps…), but so satisfying.

For the outside I used rib that was left from this jacket. For the inside I used a woven cotton a leftover from this shirt for my husband. I bought the bag supplies online at Stitch & zo. I used in-R-form plus foam as fusible interfacing. In order to make my outside fabric better resistant to rain and wear I waxed it. I basically waxed the fabric and then ironed it. Let’s hope it will make my bag more durable.

On the left I have applied the wax, on the right I have ironed over it to let the wax melt into the fabric.

If you are quick to decide there is a coupon code for 50% off: GALAXIE5. The code expires monday november 29, 23:59.
