After sewing and testing the Rainbow falls dress from Max and Meena*, Jamie (the designer from Max and Meena) posted the idea of the Heart on my sleeve hoodie. I loved the idea of that hoodie right away and knew our girls would too. So I jumped on the possibility to test the new hoodie. The Heart on my sleeve Hoodie from Max and Meena has released just in time for Valentines day. Our girls just love rainbows and hearts, so this hoodie is right up their alley.
The hoodie has a cut out in the front and back of the bodice. Together these hearts form a heart. During testing some people also made hoodies for siblings where together (the second hoodie had the heart cut out on the other sides) the cut outs make a heart when standing next to each other.
And then there are the heart elbow patches. Aren’t they the cutest? I would recommend putting something on the other side of the elbow patch to prevent the fabric from stretching. Following the tip from her, I use the disposable liners that we use for the cloth diapers. They work great.
The heart is perfect for scraps. I used some leftovers from this fireworks sweater. The fabric I have in my stash from Second Star Fabrics is very popular. So the girls are happy when they can share a piece of fabric. During the testing of this hoodie I made another one, but this one turned out too big for our middle girl (caused by me choosing the wrong size and also some adaptations were made to the pattern). It actually fits our eldest well, so she happily took over the heart sweater.
