Quartet of rainbow dresses

My first test in 2021 is a favorite here in our house. I got to test the Rainbow fall dress from Max and Meena Patterns* for our youngest. Both other girls requested a rainbow dress straight away. So during the testing time I used my projector to sew the dresses for our two other girls. I made 4 rainbow dresses!

You can choose between lining the bodice or adding a neckband. I lined the four dresses, since we are still having colder weather and an extra layer wouldn’t hurt. The rainbow stripes are perfect for scraps. The dress with the circle fabric is the first version that I sewed. After that the length of the cuffs and the length of the bodice was changed. The other 3 dresses are all made with the final pattern pieces.

I asked our two eldest which colours they wanted in the rainbow. I tried to convince them to use not use the uni colours but different printed fabrics. But I failed in my attempts, both wanted a rainbow with uni colours. So instead I sewed a rainbow with different fabrics for our youngest. She still loves everything I sew for her and doesn’t have too much of an opinion when it comes to her clothing.

These dresses were great to use my stash of leftovers. For all dresses except from the dress for our eldest I used scraps from other projects. The fabric from the pink dress was a leftover from this dress. The fabric with the circles was a leftover from this dress. The flower fabric was a leftover from this top for myself. The black dress is made in French Terry, which has enough stretch for this project. The other dresses are all made in knit.

Four different rainbow dresses, which one do you like the most? I think I like the left and right one the most.

Fabric: black French Terry: Lines & Dots Butterflies by Lycklig DesignPattern and Lines & Dots multicolor (cuffs) by Lycklig Design from Naaiplezier. Pink dress: Art Gallery Fabrics Twinklestar Berry Stretch Jersey Knit Dress Fabric from Minerva. Fabric with circles I picked up during a sewing weekend a long time ago. The flower fabric is Florescence from Second Star Fabric.

Sizing: Preemie – size 20 kids
