Christmas gifts: Slippers for the girls

During colder times our girls love to wear slippers, and not the “boring” ones (according to them) that I sewed for myself. The ones they received last year were getting a bit small, especially for our eldest. So when I saw the Kritter Kicks from Sew U Can Patterns on Facebook, I knew I just had to make them. They loves their Christmas gifts.

For our unicorn lovers I sewed unicorn slippers and for our youngest I made lady bug slippers. The pattern includes the following animals: horse/unicorn, moose, deer, penguin, monkey, bunny, cat, dog, panda/ bear/ mouse, fox, raccoon, lion, monster, shark, fish and duck. But of course you can let you imagination go wild. I used the monkey face for the lady bug slippers of our youngest. I ordered the bundle with the baby, kids, teen and adults sizes. Check out which sizes you intent to make before you order because our seven year old already falls into the teen/adult sizes. The store has a 50% discount at the moment, so definitely worth checking out if you are interested.

At Stoffen Hemmers I found just the perfect fabric, this rainbow flannel fleece and pluche fur ladybug in red with black dots. I did both the outside and the lining of the slippers with this fabric. For the faces I used fleece fabric. For the manes of the unicorns (just as I did with these unicorn pillows) I used this pluche fabric. For the bottom of the slippers I used antislip fabric that I ordered at Aliexpress, it works very well.
For the eyes of the unicorns I used kamsnaps. For the nose of the unicorns I used my coverstitch with the bottom stitch on the outside, again with my rainbow coloured thread and my purple shades coloured thread. When I was sewing the slippers for our middle one I forgot to add the tails, so I added them to the slippers for our eldest. It is now easy to recognize which one is which.
