Like you might have noticed our eldest likes retro pants (and maybe I do like her with retro pants as well). I haven’t sewed many pants, but the pants that I sewed for were retro bell pants. When I showed a picture to her of the pants that I am showing today, she got excited and wanted me to sew them for her. Below you’ll see the Kids Joplin Wide Leg Trousers by Petite Stitchery* that I sewed for her.

Our girl wasn’t too excited about the fabric, although she choose it herself. She wanted it to have different colours, instead of just one colour. So I persuaded her by adding rainbow coloured thread, my go-to option lately. And I let her pick out the buttons. A couple of months ago the mother of a friend stopped sewing and gifted me a big collection of buttons and sewing thread. The penguin buttons also came from this collection.

The Joplin Wide Leg Trousers are fitted pants around the hips so it is important to take accurate measurements and try them on before adding the waistband. In my case the fit was spot on. The pants have a high rise and are designed for stretch woven fabrics with about 15-20% stretch.

The release sale of the Joplin lasts until October 26th.
