Mix and match skater dresses

We are in the middle of our birthday month with birthdays for our two eldest girls (and their birthday parties for the kids). Combined with needing dresses with long sleeves, it was the perfect reason to sew some birthday dresses. I mix and matched two skater dresses from BOO! Designs* for our girls.

I combined 3 skater dress patterns from BOO! Designs, to create two different, yet similar dresses. I combined the sleeved skater dress with the spandex skater dress and the pixie skirt. First up is the rainbow dress for our middle girl.

Rainbow dress:
* bodice: sleeved skater dress (princess heart neckline colour block is included in the spandex skater dress)
* sleeves: sleeved skater dress
* skirt: spandex skater dress

I added some piping to accentuate the colour block on the dress, both on the front and the back.

Second, is the witch dress for our eldest. According to our girl the skirt looks just like a coat from a witch hence the witch dress.

Witch dress:
* bodice: sleeved skater dress (added the colour block myself)
* sleeves: sleeved skater dress
* skirt: pixie skirt (dress version)

I used the princess heart neckline as a basis for the colour block on the witch dress. The height of the colour block is the same. I just redrew the shape and added two extra pieces of colour block to the bodice. Again I added piping to the colour block pieces.

The pixie skirt that is attached to the witch dress has a great twirl factor. I hemmed the skirt with some bright rainbow coloured sewing thread. I love the result!

Fabric: rainbow fabric comes from Tricotstoffen, the galaxy fabric comes from Hip & Eigenwijs stoffen. The pink galaxy fabric was a leftover from this dress and was gifted to me from Minerva Crafts.
Patterns: sleeved skater dress, spandex skater dress and the pixie skirt from BOO! Designs
