Colour blocked Vallis dress

I love my Vallis, it is the perfect summer dress. So I decided to also sew one for our eldest. Last summer it was already on my list to sew one for our eldest. But again, it didn’t happen until I went on our sewing weekend. Here is the girl’s Vallis from Sofilantjes* for our eldest.

I love the asymmetrical skirt of the dress. I used the same option for my own dress. Just like with this dress I added some colour blocking because I didn’t have enough fabric. There are three hemming options for this dress. A 3/4 circle skirt with a round hem, a 3/4 circle skirt with a handkerchief hem (so four square corners) or a 3/4 circle skirt with an asymmetrical hem (round on one side and with a square corner on the other side). I chose the asymmetrical option, isn’t it great?!

I love the back of the Vallis, don’t you? In the photos the dress is still a little bit too big for our girl. I was a bit overenthusiastic with sizing up (since it was beginning of March when I sewed this and it was for summer at least 4 months later). It will be perfect during summer.
