Arcus skirts with scraps!

Another colour blocked pattern by Sofilantjes*, the Arcus skirt! I love the skirt because as I said it has a lot of colour block options and it is great for scraps. I save all those special small pieces of fabric. I find it a waste to throw them away and with this pattern you can still use them.

This skirt is perfect for a quick project, I sewed the second skirt, yesterday evening within 2 hours, from taping, to cutting to sewing. Isn’t that great for a nice twirly skirt? Additionally, the size range is awesome, our little one who is wearing a straight 9-12M (74-80) fits it and it goes all the way up to 14Y (starting at 3M).

I have a love-hate relationship with sewing with stripes. I love sewing with stripes, but then you have to line the stripes perfectly and I am not always in the mood for that. With this pattern sewing with stripes gives a nice extra touch to the skirt, I love that. Luckily the curve of the skirt pieces makes lining the stripes not that difficult.
There are many different ways to use the colour block options, in one colour, in 4 different colours, or make the skirt asymmetrical in colours like I did with the smallest. Which colour block option do you prefer?
I made two skirts, me, who almost never sews a pattern twice actually made two, that says something for sure! Today is the last day of the sale, so go get it now!
