Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie. Read until the end for more details about the giveaway!

I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress.

To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245) from Jalie in the same fabric as the piping and the neckband. This Tank Top is a great basic staple as it makes a great top on it’s own, but it also fits great underneath a dress or anything else. I love the round hem and it will be a great top for summer. I was also lazy when I finished the top. In the pattern they wrap the binding around the ends, which gives a nice finish. I, again, just cut pieces of fabric that I serged to the arms and neck. For the neck binding I used the same sparkling fabric that I used in the dress.

  1. Very cute! I have a 5 year old who always has to make sure her dresses are \”spinny dresses\” before she'll wear them, I'll have to check this one out!

  2. This is so fun! I love this dress – I've made it a few times but in performance knit. I'll have to try branching out into other knits for my next ones!

  3. Your post put a smile on my face! Your model appears to be having a ball, and it brings back memories of when my daughters were small. Thanks sew much!
